The Importance of Reading

Reading maketh a full man; and writing an axact man. And, therefore, if a man write little, he need have a present wit; and if he read little, he need have much cunning to seem to know which he doth not.” Francis Bacon

Reading is so important for each and every believer! We all know that we should first and foremost read the Bible!

Joshua 1:8--"This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success."

2 Timothy 2:15--"Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth."

1 Timothy 4:13--"Till I come, give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine."

2 Timothy 3:15-17--"And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works."

Psalm 119:105--"Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path."

Job 23:12--"Neither have I gone back from the commandment of his lips; I have esteemed the words of his mouth more than my necessary food."

It is so important to read the word of God! It is our guidebook to life! If we are not reading it the we will not grow into the Christian God wants us to be.

Are you reading God’s word?
