Prayer and Ministry of the word (pt. 1)
Acts 6:4--"But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word."
In this passage the church in growing by leaps and bounds! Since the day of Pentecost thousands have been saved! The Bible tells us 3,000 on Pentecost and then 5,000 a few days later by the preaching of Peter. Not only that but we also see much people and multitudes coming to Christ. The time came for the church to be more organized, so the apostles set aside men to become deacons. The deacons were organized so that the apostles could minister in prayer and word.
We see first of all that there are many good things that the apostles could do, but the things they needed to do were prayer and ministry of the word. Everything else is good but that is not their focus.
Where is my focus? Where is your focus? Are we doing what God has called us to do? Are we doing the best things or only things that keep us busy?
