My Testimony--Jacob Clower

My name is Jacob Clower. I was born in Kingston, Tennessee. My parents are good, godly people who raised me in church.

I thank God that I was born and raised in a Christian home. Many all over the world do not get this chance, so I am very thankful.

I was in church every Sunday morning, Sunday night, and Wednesday night my entire life. I was in Sunday school and at a young age I knew many of the great stories of the Bible. I even had all of the books of the Bible memorized and had memorized John 3:16. I did my best to follow the rules and obey my parents, but I had a problem; a sin problem.

One Sunday night during the invitation I realized that I was lost and on my way to Hell, I wanted to be saved. That night I went to the altar, I put my faith and trust in Jesus Christ and asked Him to save me. I thank God that He did save me! I was six years old.

After that I continued to live my life. I was just a boy. I understood what I did, but I didn't truly live out my faith for myself for many years. I continued to go to church and I did all the right things, but I never fully surrendered my life to the Lord.

When I was a teenager I went to church camp. The preacher that week focused on one passage, 1 Corinthians 6:19-20, "What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's." It was during the preaching of the word of God that the Lord spoke to my heart and showed me something that would absolutely change the entire course of my life. When you are saved you are no longer your own. It seemed that for many years this truth slipped past me. I was saved. I was on my way to Heaven. But the sad truth is that I was really living my own life and living for myself. Unfortunately this is how many people live today. The are saved, but they do not live it.

The Lord spoke to me and that very night I got down on my knees at the altar and repented. I then dedicated my life to following the Lord and walking in His way. My body is not my own. My life it not my own. I determined to live for Him.

I really believe that there are many saved people in the world, but that there are very few Christians. A Christian is a 'little Christ.' This term was first used in Acts 11 to ridicule the church. A Christian looks like Jesus Christ! There were many people who were saved before Acts 11, but none were called Christians until then.

I was saved for many years, but it was not until I was older that I surrendered my life to the Lord and really became a Christian.

I wonder where you are today? Are you saved? If you are not saved then you can be today.

The Bible is clear about salvation:

Ephesians 2:8-9--"For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them."

John 3:16--"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."

Romans 10:13--"For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved."

Admit you are a sinner, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and Call on Him and Confess Him as your Lord and Saviour.

If you are saved maybe you are not living as a real Christian. Maybe you were like me as a young man. You must realize just as I did that you are not your own and you are bought with a price. You were bought by the blood of Jesus Christ. You have a new purpose in Him. Are you living for Him? Are you living for Jesus? Get right and live for Him today!
