Jeremiah 44:16--"As for the word that thou hast spoken unto us in the name of the LORD, we will not hearken unto thee."
Over and over again the children of Israel disobey God. In Jeremiah the enemy is coming to conquer Jerusalem. Jeremiah and many other prophets foretold this catastrophic event, but none listened nor obeyed the voice of the Lord.
Later in the story the men of Judah come to Jeremiah asking for a word from the Lord. These men even promise to obey the word of the Lord, good or bad.
The word of the Lord came unto them, but they did not like the message and called Jeremiah a liar. They did not listen, nor did they harken to the word of the Lord.
How do you respond to God's word? Do you listen and obey? Or are you like these Jews who knew the truth but chose to disobey?
