Daily Provision

1 Kings 4:22-23--"And Solomon's provision for one day was thirty measures of fine flour, and threescore measures of meal, Ten fat oxen, and twenty oxen out of the pastures, and an hundred sheep, beside harts, and roebucks, and fallowdeer, and fatted fowl."

When I read this portion of scripture I though, "Wow! That is so much food! How could they eat so much? Do they really need such provisions?" The more I considered this thought of all the provision Solomon had for one day I began to consider all the great provisions he made for the flesh. I understand that we all need to eat, but often we are like Solomon, who made such enormous provisions for the flesh. But how much provision did Solomon make for the spiritual things? Was there any spiritual provisions?

I ask myself the same question today. I ate breakfast this morning to feed my flesh (and it was good), but did I take the time for spiritual provisions as well?

Prayer and Bible reading are the very beginning and basics of provisions that we need spiritually every day. Are we getting the provision we need spiritually?
