Jeremiah 17:1--"
Jeremiah declares, "Thus saith the Lord.." over and over as God uses him to speak to Judah. Here Jeremiah declares the penalty of their sin!
Their sin is written with a pen of iron with the point of a diamond. I don't know much about pens and writing, but I understand that this is a pen of permanence. Judah's sin is going nowhere. It is recorded for all time.
The truth is that we are all in this situation. The Bible says that all have sinned! (Romans 3:10, 23) We all have sin against us and it is permanent. This sin will take us straight to Hell! But, thank God, Jesus Christ came and died in the place of all humanity. Jesus Christ paid the sin debt for all and all we must do is trust Him! (Romans 5:8; 6:23; 10:9-10, 13)
